JimCorrell

The Last Chance University With Jim Correll

At the age of 50, Jim was hired as an outside staff instructor to teach the Successful Entrepreneur Program at a small community college in Independence, Kansas. At first, his efforts struggled to gain the attention of students who were otherwise focused on a degree. And because he was a non-academic outsider, he wasn't getting much support from faculty and staff. Yet once he realized he needed to shift his focus from traditional business planning to the entrepreneurial mindset, things began to change as word soon began to spread. Before long, Jim transformed an abandoned building into a thriving fab lab that soon became a hub of entrepreneurial activity.

Contagious Enthusiasm for Entrepreneurial Thinking in Bermuda

Having a second job—or even a third or fourth—is typical for the staff who work with small and medium-sized businesses at the Bermuda Economic Development Corporation (BEDC). These entrepreneurial thinkers are passionate about the self-directed pursuit of opportunities to create value for others.

Donte Hunt, Ondreyah Rochester, and Dennis Carter all work within the Micro, Small and Medium-Sized Enterprise (MSME) unit.

All three are trained facilitators who bring the Ice House model to aspiring entrepreneurs on the Caribbean Island through an 8-week course titled Think Like an Entrepreneur. The BEDC team designed it to be the first of three courses in the Enterprise Bermuda Incubator Program. The incubator program provides hands-on business skills and knowledge.

The facilitators integrate inspirational videos that complement the eight life lessons contained in the Ice House Entrepreneurship Program and invite guest speakers to help customize the course for the business ecosystem in Bermuda.

Have you learned the lessons of Uncle Cleve, Clifton Taulbert, and Gary Schoeniger? Help us reach others with this powerful message by leaving us a rating and review on Amazon or wherever you get your books! "Much more than a book on entrepreneurship. It is a book about how the mindset and actions of the good & reliable stands out from the average. It is a series of stories that reflect the good old values of how one carries oneself in life...This one's a classic."
